Cowboy and Cowgirl Poetry Night will celebrate its 31st year in Red Bluff, Monday, April 15th, 6 pm. Western poets of all ages are invited to carry on the tradition by taking the mike and share their favorite songs and poems about the Western way of life in the form of traditional, modern or original poems and songs. The event, leading up to the Round Up will be held at the Tehama District Fairgrounds Auditorium, 650 Antelope Blvd, Red Bluff, CA, and is sponsored by the Tehama County Arts Council. Doors will open at 5:30 pm., and admission is free. Cowboy poetry originated with real cowboys sitting around the campfire telling stories of their experiences of the day, often in songs on their guitar, or as poems. Cowboy Poetry, with its rhyming style became a form of folk art. To participate, call (530) 278-5691 or go online for registration: www.tehamaaarts.org. Registration is free.
