The City of Corning Recreation and the Corning Chamber of Commerce invite the community to a special event, “Celebrating Hometown Heroes and Touch-A-Truck,” which will take place during the September 2nd Corning Tuesday Night Market, 5-8PM, Solano between 3rd & 6th Streets. This will be a fun and exciting event where kids explore trucks, emergency vehicles, heavy equipment and more. Meet & Greet some of Corning's Hometown Heroes, a K-9 demonstration by Corning Police Officer Danette Ross & Ghost, and there will be water polo with the Corning Fire Dept. There will be plenty of lights and sirens. - See a garbage truck close-up - Check out the inside of the ambulance - Chat with the Corning Police Dept, Tehama County and the CHP - Talk with some of our local war Veterans - Explore our Public Works backhoe - Learn about our local school districts - Get tips on fire prevention with CalFire, the Corning Volunteer Fire Dept and the US Forest Service - Meet the search & rescue dog, Ghost - See the Tehama County Boating Unit’s vessel and/or jet skis - Get local updates from our Tehama County Supervisors - Check out the BearCat Armored vehicle and more! - Learn how all their vehicles work and talk to the heroes themselves. There will be over 60 vendors including, food trucks & pop-ups, local makers, growers, and community non-profits. As well as the Corning Rotary's Beer & Wine Garden and live music with the Irish Cement Band. There's a Kids' Zone with a Bounce House and a "make it 'n take it" craft offered by the Corning Senior Center. Restrooms will be available at the Rodgers Theatre, Daisy's Ice Cream and City Hall. It will be an evening you and your kids don't want to miss!
