Buy Fresh, Buy Local returns to Corning! The CorningChamber of Commerce is re-launching the Corning Certified Thursday Farmers' Market, opening day is Thursday, June 10th, 5 - 7:30PM. Miss Junior Olive City, Taylar Linder, will open the market at 5PM by singing the national anthem, and at 6PM, entertainment will be provided by the Corning Ballet Folklorico. The Market will once again be located in the nicely shaded Northside Park (pool)on Colusa St between 6th and West Streets in downtown Corning, and will be held weekly though August 26th. Closed last season due to COVID precautions, as many markets were, we are invigorating the Market with a healthy variety of farms, orchards, nurseries,ranches, crafters and makers, food purveyors and community organizations. Thanks to generous donations from two non-profits, Tehama Together's CommunityFood Alliance and the former Glenn County Certified Farmers' Market, farmer incentives are being offered to support the re-launching effort to attract certified growers and producers from all over the region. Renee Dent,Chamber board member and Market Chairperson shared, “We were inspired by the positive response of the farmers’ market at the annual Olive Festival inOctober to re-open the weekly Thursday market for a full season." We are also pleased to announce the Market will be accepting EBT and WIC. Kids will receive $5 in "Market Moolah" when they sign-up for the summer reading program through the Tehama County Library AT the market. The theme is "Mission: Space - Read - Explore - Engage." We welcome our local community, as well as travelers through the North State, to visit the Corning Certified Thursday Farmers’ Market this summer for fresh, local produce, prepared foods and crafts.
