The Tehama County Arts Council is searching for a Tehama County high school student who shines at memorization and giving a presentation of poetry to represent Tehama County in the Poetry Out Loud National Arts education contest. This contest encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition for high school students across the Country. To register for the competition, email tcacarts@gmail.com The deadline for probable entrants is January 9th and definite entrants February 8th. On February 8th, 2024, 5:30 PM at Tehama Arts, 328 Oak Street, Red Bluff, the Arts Council will hold the competition to find our County winner. The first place winner will receive $250, second place $150, and third place $75. The first place winner will go Sacramento to compete with other students from all over the State. The national champion receives $20,000. Teachers who work with students outside of the classroom to help them prepare for this competition will be offer a small stipend of $200 for bringing 2 or more students to the county finals.
