Name: Seasonal Wildlife Survey – Nest Boxes (Butte County)
Date: March 16, 2019
Time: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM PDT
Event Description:
The CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife, Gray Lodge Wildlife Area (Gridley, CA) is seeking volunteers, ages 18 and older, to take part in its annual Wood Duck Nest Box Program. Working closely with a section leader, you will help maintain habitat and experience wildlife up close. The crews of two or three workers will also collect detailed data, used to understand and enhance the local wood duck population and other wildlife, including wrens, owls and flycatchers. Although the work can be physically challenging at times, this remains one of our most popular volunteer opportunities. Maintenance checks are conducted twice per month, mornings, from April to July. Most sections take about four hours to complete. The orientation for this season-long program will be March 16th, 9 to 3:30 on Gray Lodge. Reservations are required. Space is limited.
