Event Description:
What do you love about your hometown? Local artists will be showcasing art of their favorite places, events, people and things they treasure about Red Bluff and Tehama County for the Main Event Gallery's December exhibit, "The Art of Hometown." Historical photographs will be sourced for the exhibit. The opening reception is Friday, Dec. 3, 5:30-8 pm, 710 Main Street, Red Bluff. The Exhibit will run through Dec. 30. The event is sponsored by the Tehama County Arts Council One of the artists, Bob McConnell has combined his photography with his artistic talent to create a series of digital etchings of some of the beloved Victorian homes in Red Bluff. His stunning and precise art captures the iconic homes in delicate detail. "I spend up to 80-100 hours on each drawing," said McConnell. McConnell takes photographs of buildings in great detail and uses those as references to create his etchings, utilizing a Wacom drawing tablet and pen to do the drawings on, linked to the computer. He draws in the details on separate layers in Photoshop. "I think it's important to document what we've got, our surroundings, the buildings and landscapes through photography and art. Downtown Main Street, Red Bluff is wonderful and we need to keep a record of it. The Victorian homes are such an asset to this city. We should show the world what we've got here."
